This blog post is inspired by a friend who was scammed/ conned by a company. This company issued him a fake Certificate of Sponsorship. He applied for a visa with this certificate and was outrightly rejected by the Home Office.
This friend is not the only one; there might be cases where an employer promises an employee a certificate of sponsorship at the end of a three-month probation period. At the end of the day, the employer will discover that this employer has no active license to sponsor. It is a devastating situation to be in. I absolutely understand the struggle, and today I will share with you how to find out if your employer can sponsor your visa or if they have an active licence to sponsor your skilled worker visa in the UK.
First, you can find a list of companies that are on the register to sponsor skilled worker visas on the Home Office website. The homeoffice has a Register of licensed sponsors: workers. You can view the list online, or you can decide to download the CSV file on the page.

If you have a company promising you a job offer with sponsorship, the first thing you can do is to go through this list and find their name. The list on the official government website is so up-to-date that I have checked it for 3 days straight, and they update the list so very often.

The second way you can confirm if this employer can sponsor your Skilled Worker visa is to use this website . It makes the whole job very easy for you. Just input the name of the company in the search bar, and if they have a license, you will see them in the search.
How good is this website?
This website is quite good and reliable as they extract the data directly from the Register of licensed sponsors: workers on the government official website.
Hot tip: I just want to clarify, some companies oftentimes go by their group name on the sponsorship license. Let’s take, for instance, Dorset nursing home. If you search the name of the group on the Register of licensed sponsors: workers, you will find the group and you will further see that each of their homes have different sponsorship license and different names too, and their location. So if the company you searched is not in the list, do well to try the name of the group they belong to, as that might work as well.
That will be all for today. If you would like to get news of new employers with UK visa sponsorship direct to your email, you can subscribe to my mailing list ( it is 100% free )
Goodluck in your application
